Birds, Bees, and Phoenixes (Day 5, LM, Yuki's Yurt)

[Asako Yuki]

"I still should have realized something so stupid wasn't true..." Yuki said, a little miserably. "I'm an Asako, I'm supposed to be able to realize things like that."

[Asako Hirase]

"You trusted your informant. It is a sad truth that we tend to be more accepting of that which comes from those who are close to us, even though those people may not have our best interests in mind." Hirase tried to cheer her up. "I'm sure there are many things I think are true about warfare that you'd find silly, too."

[Asako Yuki]

Yuki sighed and smiled, partly for Hirase's benefit, partly to help her lift her own spirits. "Arigato, Hirase-san. You should probably go eat though. I'll be ok."

[Asako Hirase]

"Just remember, my tent flap is always open." He paused. "Just...I apologize in advance for Ericko."

Pushing to his feet, he bowed to her, smiling.

"Go, enjoy your day, Cousin. I will see you soon."

Turning, the older Asako departed without fanfare, leaving his illustrations behind.

[Asako Yuki]

Yuki smiled a little at his apology for Ericko. "She still isn't used to me, then?" She sighed and shook her head. "You too, cousin."

Once Hirase was gone, Yuki quietly took the illustrations again and examined them with a studious face.
