No Excuses (D3, EE Open)

Yuuru arrived at the dojo that evening and walked quietly over to a spot with some space to practice his kata. Losing to the Butaj the day before still kind of stuck in his craw. Being here for the miai was no reason to let his training lapse. If he couldn't throw the giant Moto, how was he going to wressle a Naga to the ground when he got back home?

A young Unicorn wandered in and glanced over at Yuuru, before moving to the weapon rack and selecting a bokken. He took a few practice swings at the air to test its balance.

Yuuru caught sight of what appeared to be a young boy practicing from the corner of his eye and nodded a polite greeting.

"Oh, hello!" the Unicorn said as Yuuru took notice of him. "What kind of kata are you working on? I don't know much about easterner techniques."

"It's a fighting technique from the Soshi Magistrate school from which I hail." Yuuru replied.

"Name's Soshi Yuuru. Pleasure. And what's your name young man?"

"I'm Moto Baatar," the young Unicorn replied. "I'm a rider with the Unicorn. Are you a magistrate, then? I thought magistrates use jitte instead of swords."

"There's a time for both my dear boy." He said with a smile.

"Are you here looking for criminals?" Baatar asked. "Or are you helping keep the peace or something?"

He smiled, "I'm here looking for a wife."

"Ah! Of course," Baatar said, nodding. "Unicorn women make the best wives. They're strong, loyal, and bear many sons."

"But there are many easterners here for the miai," he added. "What makes Soshi-san think he will be the best match for a Unicorn?"

He chuckled lightly, "My lord asked me to come and try. There are indeed quite a few excellent candidates, but I feel my skills translate well into the Unicorn."

"I wish good hunting to you, then, Soshi-san," Baatar replied. "Maybe there is a family who would be pleased to see their daughter wed to a Scorpion magistrate."

"My tribe sent me here to find a wife too," he confided. "I'm... not quite sure what to look for. My ma said good hips are important, but I don't even know how to tell that. It's not like with horses where you can just look."

He chuckled, "They sent you at your age? That's quite the task for ya neh? If you want some help in figuring out which hips are good, you can ask ol' uncle Yuuru." He winked. "I've got a good eye for that type of thing."

"That would be a big help," Baatar admitted. "I heard there were a lot of Scorpion women here at the miai, but I haven't met any of them yet. Can you tell me anything about them?"

He nodded, "Sure. From what I know at least. I just met them myself."

He smiled, "Well both Yogo Mizuki and Bayushi Hotaru are priestesses. Both quite attractive, though Mizuki hides her face most of the time. Fairly good hips on both of them if that's what you're looking for... but I can't assume that's all you're looking for..."

He let the sentence hang for the little Moto to fill in what other things he might be interested to know.
