[Shinjo Hanashi]

The kids having all been sent back to their respective yurts, Hanashi found his way to the dojo to welcome the rising warmth of the day with practice.

He'd learned how to accommodate the lack of vision on his right side a bit, but there was still a long way to go before he truly felt comfortable in a cavalry charge again.

A little surprised at all the others present, he bows to them, before settling down to wait for open floor space.

[Shinjo Liu Fei]

"I am not a Sensei Bayushi-sama. It isn't really something I can, or should, teach. Do you have a weapon you have trained a bit in? Would you care to spar or train together? I would find something to replace my Naginata with, something more practice oriented of course. Unless you felt daring," she added the last with a slightly twisted smirk. Though as the smirk dissipated so too did the suggestion to practice with anything but the proper precautionary tools.

"Otherwise, you could watch. Though I am not sure how much good that would do you, Bayushi-sama."

"I am not a Sensei Bayushi-sama. It isn't really something I can, or should, teach. Do you have a weapon you have trained a bit in? Would you care to spar or train together? The Bayushi courtier was amused but did not let on that he was. He looked at her weapon and though he knew nothing of how to use it, he was not intimidated. He had only practiced with a simple weapon in his life. A weapon that would help him defend himself.

"Fortune favors the bold Shinjo-sama. At least that is what I have been taught as it pertains to being daring. I would at some point engage you in sparring, but not this day. I am not skilled with your particular weapon, I have a more subtle weapon that I have trained with."

"How do you train for battle? Did you have dojo or some type of training facility before arriving?"

"Then I will give you the advantage of witnessing my technique today so that when we have our chance to spar we might meet on equal footing," she said, though there was clearly a jab in there it's intent was not to insult, but danced about the line of daring. A tease, some might say, or others might call it a challenge. Either way, it was close enough to the truth.

Taking her stance with Naginata ready, she looked to the Bayushi to give him the chance to say anything else he wished to before she would begin to work through her routine a bit.

"You have already begun demonstrating your technique to me Shinjo-san," he began; a slight inflection of playfulness in his tone. "You have demonstrated confidence, self-assurdness, and even a measure of determination. Please, continue. I have enjoyed what I have seen thus far."

"How do you train for battle? Did you have dojo or some type of training facility before arriving?"

Yue pondered on the question for a moment, thinking how to best answer the question in Rokugani. "My Clan did not have permanent facilities during our ride over here," she finally replied.

Without another word Liu Fei dropped into focus. Slashes, and thrusts interspersed her routine. Clear enough to anyone with a decent amount of training was that her stance was far more defensive with a sudden switch to more offensive attacks. Liu Fei's foot work was quick, light on her feet, it allowed for a great deal of movement but seemed to hold back. Like there was something she knew she could try but wasn't ready to yet, another part to her technique she had been working on.

After quite a number of repetitions, working up a bit of a sweat, she finished with a definitive movement and then fell back into a relaxed stance. Turning to look back to the Bayushi who had decided to watch, rather than speak she sought to learn of what he thought whether it was through him speaking or just watching him for a moment. After the display he witnessed, she figured it was only fair she got to do a little of the same.

"I had a sensei as I presume you did, Yuuru-dono," she replied with a smile. "My Family and Clan still retained structure even without permanent residency." She patted the butt of her tetsubo. "We do not each have our own technique. It is trained as with any Rokugani."

The Bayushi watched her intently and was impressed with her moves. She was a violent and focused woman though of his own critique, her violence could be refined and made to be more deadly. He remained stoic once her routine was finished and offered a polite bow to her. He then stood at a respectable distance and drew his aiguchi from his sleeve. He did a basic routine with it, nothing flashy at all. It was simple, it was efficient, it was direct. When he completed he approached her and bowed, still maintaining a respectable distance. He placed his aiguchi back in its little saya, into his sleeve.

"I know, not as elegant and with flair as you, but that is the beauty of subtlety. No one really gives it much attention, so it makes the simplest weapon, most effective."

Would be hard to get past a foe that was expecting an attack from a blade such as that I would wager," she said, finding his stoic stance giving no indication of what he truly thought of the display. Still, that wasn't to say she was entirely disappointed. There was enough steal and resolve there to make up for what she thought of his choice of weapon.

"When it arrives at it's conclusion, effectiveness is all that truly matters."

"Your skill with your weapon, quite extraordinary. Have you see many battles?"

"I have seen combat," she answered shortly. Not really sure what she'd call what she had witnessed on the ride here, or how to even begin describing those horrors. Still, she didn't want to kill the conversation completely.

"Have you seen any battles in your time?" she asked, though there was a light reservation in her tone as she had already formed her own answer to the question by looking at him. It was clear, to her at least, that he did not appear to be the sort of man who had seen such things.

[Bayushi Suteichi]

"In the courtroom I have Shinjo-san. On the actual field of battle, not so much. I may not be a soldier but I do see how battles are started. They start with a misunderstanding."

He thought on what he said then continued.

"Still, we all have our way of doing battle. Men can die by the word just as swift and as deadly as you wielding your weapon with that fierceness you possess."
