Mei looks around for a few moments, and verifying none are around, she lets out a loud yawn and begins to stretch. Next to her lay a large bow, standing almost taller than she is.

Stretches complete, Mei begins to string the Yumi. After a few moments fininishes with the task and pulls and arrow from the ground, knocking it. She takes a deep breath and when she exhales, the arrow flies from the bow, striking the orange target

Having done his best to welcome Lady Sun, Nonin decided to take a walk and ended up . . . here.

Having acquired a new found interest in archery, he paused to watch the Crane.

Mei picks another arrow and hums to herself, a slow steady tone. As she does, she looses a other arrow, her eyes nearly closed. This time the arrow sinks into the furthest target. She goes to pick up a third arrow and then she notices the Phoenix.

"Good Morning, Isawa-san. I am Miya Mei. How are you?"

Nonin bows deeply. "An honor, Miya-sama. This one is Isawa Nonin, a shugenja of the Phoenix. I was introduced to the art of archer by the Unicorn's contest and I am interested in learning more, so your skill with the bow caught my attention. I hope I am not being rude, if so, I will leave."

"Not in the slightest. I am happy to show what I know. "

She motions for the Phoenix to stand with her.

"Please, come, take the Yumi"

"Miya-sama is most kind," he says, taking the yumi. "While I have seen people use the bow al my life, I never paid much attention until the contest. It seems to have a meditative component that I had overlooked."

"I agree with your assessment. Many martial skills have meditative properties when not in the heat of battle."

Mei points to the ground

"First, you must set your feet. Did the Unicorn show this?"

Nonin nods, "They did, but I doubt my stance is very good." He positioned himself as best he could.

Mei watches the Phoenix get into his stance.

"You have the basics of it. Here, turn so your left side faces the target. Make sure your feet are positioned so a line drawn from the target passes directly to your toes."

"Also, make sure you are about an arrows length apart and angled like a V"

Nonin listens and does his best though it is fairly obvious that he does not do much on the martial side of things. "Is this good, Miya-sama?"

Mei steps back and observes for a moment before nodding.

"Yes, excellent!"

Her voice sounds encouraging.

"Now stand up straight, and make sure your hips and shoulders match the line you drew wotj your feet"

Nonin does so, a little unsteadily at first. "Like this?"

Mei observes again and nods.

"Excellent! Now you can think about your grip. This stance will become second nature the more you practice."

"Grip with your left hand, and place your right on the string directly behind it. Your grip should be firm, but not squeezing."

Nonin follow the direction quickly becoming more confident. "You are a good sensei, Miya-sama."
