It had been a long few months for the Badger, he had traveled from Crane lands to his some, a long journey in itself, and then shortly after that it was off to Unicorn lands. Certainly it meant seeing much of the Empire, but it hadn't left much time for practice. Which is why after hearing of a Archery range in the town he made his way to it.

It wasn't long after arriving that he was sending shafts down field, aiming at a target fairly close as something of a warmup.

The Badger was not alone on the practice field. One of the Unicorn was taking aim at a nearby target, from on top of his horse.

Mounted archery wasn't something the Badger had much experience with, so after loosing a few more arrows down range he paused to watch the Unicorn. Curious how good the man was.

Kemuri was a fair archer, with the potential to be among the best. He was a better rider, guiding. His mount with a few practiced motions as he lossed another volley into the target.

"You always do your archery from a horse?" Daisuke asked after watching for a while longer. It didn't seem like it would be the case but he could be wrong.

"Usually." he replied. "It makes hunting faster fame easier."

"I see." He supposed that made sense, especially around these parts. "I'd think it would raise the chance of scarring off the game though."

"That's a given in most cases." he nodded. "But, avoiding detection can be difficult, even in tall grass. And, being on horseback means being able to give chase."

"I'd imagine it gives a better range of vision as well with the added height, making it easier to hunt on plains like this." He replied thoughtfully. "I think I'd need to spend a lot more time on a horse than I have if I were going to give such a thing a try though."

"So I suppose I'll have to stick to stealth at least for now."

"I'd be less effective in woodlands or mountainous terrain I'd wager." he shrugged. "Every hunt is different."

After one last volley, he dismounted and offered a bow. "Shinjo Kemuri."

"True enough, and I would admit I'd likely be doing more hunting in woodlands or mountains then anywhere. Well unless I end up joining your clan." He added after a moment.

"Ichiro Daisuke, a scout of the Badger." He offered his own introduction after the Shinjo. "It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance Shinjo-san."

There was a pause as he considered the name. "One of the Minor Clans, yes? The ones that came after the departure of the Ki-Rin. A pleasure to meet you."

It made Daisuke a little happy that the name of his clan was recognized, even if just vaguely. "Aye, we are your neighbors to the north in fact. Our duty it to guard the Path of Woe and prevent any possible invasion."

"You are good neighbors to have then." he smiled. "Are there attacks often?"

"Small ones occur almost constantly, though occasionally we have a quiet year or two."

"Lately things have been different though, it's like the Barbarians have changed and well as much as I hate to admit it, things are becoming difficult." Honestly it was far worse then that, but he couldn't quite bring himself to say it.
