Kemuri had ridden out to the fields, where he was to meet with his hunting partners. He did not expect to find a new body of water, however. They could move on and go hunting as planned, but something like this merited investigation.

Several yards away from the crater, he waited for the Matsu to arrive. They would decide what they would do together.

Kogo walked out with Kemuri, Noburu in tow. She was surprised to see such a change in the landscape. "Ohayo gozaimasu Shinjo-san. How are you this morning?"

"I am well, Matsu-sama." he smiled. "But, confused. I know there wasn't a lake here yesterday."

She looks at it, quite puzzled. "I am also quite sure that was not the case. What could have caused such a sudden change?"

"I heard some whispers in the stables, about a battle with a dragon." he answered. "There was also talk of one of my cousins falling in the conflict. I know we came here to hunt, but would you mind if we investigated the water?"

She looked at him intently. "One of your cousins? Which one?" She looks to Noburu, who is dancing near the edge of the water, with her hair slowly rising. "Something is wrong." She clicks her fingers and draws Noburu to her side. As she touches the lion's head, she feels a faint growl reverberating through the lion. "Something here bothers her. I am not sure what."

"Sarangerel is uneasy, too." he nodded. "It may be best to leave this mystery for now. As for who we lost, I saw an Otaku steed at the stables, restless and distressed. I think It may have been Otaku Chi Pu-sama."

"What? What happened to her? I spoke to her only last night?" She asked me about jade. Could this have been why? Oh why did I not give her the piece I had? Would it have helped?

The blood has left her face in her shock.

"I don't know." he shook his head. "I did not know her, but I know of her. I know Tianma. And, I've seen horses who have lost their rider

Kogo shakes her head, trying to recover herself. "I am sorry, I do not mean to be so abrupt. It is just....She spoke last night of difficulties. Difficulties she could not discuss. I did not press her, not wishing to push against the word she had pleged not to speak of it. But now...."

"I wish I could tell you more, Matsu-sama. But, I honestly don't know what happened." he sighed.

She shakes her head. "You are right. Thank you for telling me. Now, we had a plan this morning. Sadly, plans are subject to the will of the Kami and this day it seems more than most."

"We can still go hunting and share another breakfast." he smiled. "My morning is already better, now that you're here."

She laughs a bit, though it is not quite as relaxed as usual. "Yes, let us do some hunting. A good run would clear my head."

"Let's go, then." he suggested, motioning away from the crater. "I hope the storm didn't cause you any problems."
