SHINJO EVENT: Egg Hunt (D4, Late Morning)
Posted: Sun Apr 16, 2017 1:57 am
The Shinjo have once again gathered their guests and fellow Unicorn together, this time to test their scouting abilities. To that end, they have hidden dozens of small, purple eggs in the western fields. The goal is simple: search the fields, find as many eggs as possible in the four hours allowed, and then bring them back to the Shinjo in once piece.
Easy, right?
Unfortunately, it took a long time to paint all those eggs purple, and they're no longer as fresh as they once were. The smell has attracted hungry weasels, and, well... there are weasels involved.
Time Slot: Late Morning
Magic: Allowed (But won't allow a character to avoid any rolls)
Let's Find Some Eggs!: Each character can make up to six Investigation (Search)/Perception rolls against TN 10. On a success, the character finds one egg, plus one egg per successful Raise. A character does not have to make all six rolls, but once they move on to the next step of this event, they cannot attempt to search for any more eggs.
If a character fails one of these rolls, they drop one egg per Called Raise, which breaks and no longer counts as a viable egg for the purposes of this event.
Weasel Ambush!
Once the character has finished searching for eggs, they may begin heading back toward the village. Along the way, however, the character is attacked by vicious, egg-crazed weasels!
Characters with the Inner Gift (Animal Ken) advantage are able to befriend the weasels and can return to the village without any further trouble.
Everyone else must make a Defense/Reflexes roll against a TN of 10 + 2 per egg being carried by the character. On a success, the character manages to fend off the weasels and make it back to the village. Characters with the Touch of the Spirit Realms (Chikushudo) advantage reduce this TN to 10 +1 per egg, while characters with the Cursed by the Realm (Chikushudo) disadvantage increase it to 10 + 3 per egg.
On a failure, the character suffers an amount of damage equal to the amount by which they failed to meet the TN.
If a character suffers 15 or more points of damage from this event, they also gain their choice of either the Bad Eyesight (Missing Eye) or Disturbing Countenance disadvantage, due to the vicious wounds inflicted upon them by the biting and gnawing weasels. It isn't pretty.
Scoring: The character(s) who brings back the most eggs will earn 3 Courtship Points, the character(s) who bring back the second-most eggs will earn 2 Courtship Points, and the character(s) who bring back the third-most eggs will earn 1 Courtship Point.
