[Shinjo Kemuri]

"And you have, Soshi-sama." he smiled. "May I ask, why are you you here and not at the ceremony?"

[Soshi Taira]

"I'm a doctor, and I thought I'd see what herbs were around these parts. Unfortunately I'm not seeing anything I could use."

With a soft sigh he gestured to the fields. "I'm not well acquainted with these parts, so I wouldn't know it if I saw it, I suspect."

[Shinjo Kemuri]

"I am afraid I can't help you much with plants." he shook his head. "If you were looking for an animal, I might be able to track it down, but I don't know much about herbs."

[Soshi Taira]

Taira nodded. "Hai. Fortunately, I've brought a stock of my own, so I should be fine."

Glancing up at the rider, he added, "What brings you out to the fields, instead of the ceremony?"

[Shinjo Kemuri]

"Restlessness, I suppose." he shrugged. "While I look forward to meeting samurai from across the Empire, I'd much rather see the Empire for myself. I'd rather be out here riding around, than back there waiting for things to begin."

[Soshi Taira]

"Ah, a wanderer, then."

A faint chuckle.

"Perhaps your clan will have to speak with the Miya, and reach an accord. I'm sure your talents have much in common, so far as travel is concerned."

[Shinjo Kemuri]

"Perhaps." he nodded. "Though, I'll likely be a part of another clan by then. I'll get to explore new territory either way, I suppose."

[Soshi Taira]

"Very true."

The scorpion smiled.

"Perhaps before long I'll have to learn to ride."

[Shinjo Kemuri]

"That's easy." he chuckled. "The horse does most of the work."

[Soshi Taira]

"Yet I suspect there is more to it, else your kin wouldn't have such a signature skill at it."

Chuckling, he added, "Mantis say that sailing is easy. I... ... don't agree."

[Shinjo Kemuri]

"I've never tried it." he shrugged. "It's a matter of familiarity, I guess. I've been riding for as long as I can remember."

"Mostly with Sarangerel." Kemuri patted the horse's flank affectionately.

[Soshi Taira]

"Ah, and I suppose the Mantis might say the same."

With a sigh, Taira went on. "I've no such experience to share. Just... knowledge of rather dull medical texts and legal codes."

[Shinjo Kemuri]

"Healers are greatly appreciated, Soshi-sama." he responded. "The ride home was difficult. I doubt we would have made it without the skill of the Iuchi and our other medical practitioners, I doubt we would have made it."

[Soshi Taira]

Taira laughed. "Hai, we can be useful, though frustratingly stubborn."

Glancing back at the village, he sighed. "I should probably be getting back. I hear there is a dinner planned, and I would not wish to miss the opportunity to learn more of your people."

[Shinjo Kemuri]

"We should return, as well." he sighed. "It should be an interesting dinner, at least. I look forward to trying a few new dishes."
