IUCHI EVENT: Carving Beans (D10, EA)

[Seppun Hitako]

Hitako accepted the challenge, and began to look for a good bean. She searched carefully, and found one she liked. Then, recalling what little she had learned from Dong-Ha, she began to carve as they had instructed her.

The last part however, was something she could do well. She could write what she needed to as small as possible. And as neatly as possible. And as perfectly as she could. And so she did.

She turned the little bean in at the end, and hoped she had done well enough.

[Shinjo Taichi]

Taichi was fascinated by this event, sure that such a token would help to show those in his travels the unique culture of his clan. The materials had to be the very best for such an important future cultural relic.

Sadly, no beans were worthy of Taichi.

Trying to find a keepable bean - 1CR - TN20 - fail

[Bayushi Hotaru]

Hotaru did her best to squint her eyes and focus on the bean itself. She recalled one of the businesses that her mother managed was an artisan shop where there was an old man who could write excerpts from the Tao onto a grain of rice. A grain of rice. That made writing on a bean slightly more reasonable by comparison. Perhaps not for a novice, who never attempt the art, but she was going to give it a try nevertheless. Unfortunately, the bean became lost and nearly camouflaged itself into the table when she found herself cross-eyed.

She tried to pat down the table for the bean and accidentally knocked it to the ground. Mamoru bounded toward the bean, thinking that it was a free treat, and quickly gobbled it with one slurp.

"Mamoru-kun! No! Bad dog!" Hotaru scolded her puppy for his actions. Unfortunately, that wasn't going to get her bean back.

[Moto Butaj]

Tiny beans, oh my. Butaj's mind is so wrapped up in matters of love and marriage and love that the more he stares at the bean the more his thoughts go toward accepting it as it is, beautiful in its tiny beaniness, and not carving it at all. But on some close inspection Butaj discovers that it changes shape a little when squeezed and rubbed, and that is far more acceptable. How Butaj is able of such a groundbreaking discovery is beyond his own understanding.

Day 10 - EA - This is a Tiny Bean - Per/Investigation (Unskilled) - TN15: 2d10 18 +1 Point

Squeezing and rubbing is going good, and with his gentle touch Butaj slowly forms the desired shape. It is pleasing to the eye, enticing even. Certainly it is making Butaj happy. Shaping the bean was a lot of fun!

Day 10 - EA - Carving Skills - Awa/Sculpting (Unskilled) - TN15: 3d10 17 +1 Point

What? Why does it have to be painted? It's good as it is! And with black ink? That will be... disfiguring! Butaj does not want the bean to be tattooed with ink. Especially that he has no confidence in his calligraphy. And rightfully so, a blot is made, and his work is spoiled. The beautiful, shapely bean which has attracted so much of his attention is gone, marred by his ineptitude. That makes one unhappy Butaj, filled with a sense of foreboding.

[Seppun Aramoro]

This little bean?! You expect me to enact any from of knowledge or art on this tiny bean!

Aramoro had more difficulty than other to even see the bean, and so left at the crafting station. Stood up and bowed to his hosts and stepped aside.

Tiny Bean Fail 12 vs TN15

[Otomo Tenzo]

While Tenzo was able to narrowly focus upon the surface of the bean, he has not the skills necessary for carving, yet that did not stop him from attempting quite an elaborate kanji either, an overconfidence in his ability having never worked with such material before. In the end, the Otomo's bean was little more than a scribbly mess.

Try as he might, Takeo couldn't find the right kind of bean.

Kitakuhime opens the bean bag and they spread all over the ground. She kneels down to pick them up and that takes a looooooooooooooooooooooooooong time.
