Sacking Out...a puppy? (D8 Late Aft. OPEN)

[Bayushi Suteichi]

"I understand that Asako-sama." Suteichi replied, reaching into his sleeve. "As I said I was given one when I was younger. I cared for it. My pup got sick and passed on. I like little Sasuke, but I rather not keep him. Too many...memories."

[Asako Hirase]

So, the Scorpion was certain of defeat. And so very sentimental. It was a surprise.

All that the Phoenix said in return however was, "That is part of the lesson of pets, I was told. To understand that love is no less valuable simply because it cannot last."

[Bayushi Suteichi]

Suteichi nodded. He produced some manju from his sleeve. "If I may offer some manju to you all?"

[Asako Hirase]

"Not this close to dinner." Hirase said it just a bit louder than was conversationally appropriate. The reason was clear as a small boy, two little dogs on his tail, came all but charging over at the mention of the treat. "It would spoil one's appetite for the good things that make them grow. Right, Ichiro-kun?"

The boy drew up short, crestfallen. "Hai..."

"Now, come greet Bayushi-san. Bayushi Suteichi, my son, Ichiro."

The boy, still sullen, bowed.

[Shinjo Akil]

Akil was content to watch for now, though he did snap his fingers so that Kimi would come to him. At least the dog was starting to figure out that snapped fingers and little clicks meant to come to him.

[Bayushi Suteichi]

"It is an honor to meet you, young Ichiro-sama." Suteichi greeted. "Your father is right. It is not good to spoil your supper. But.." Suteichi turned to Hriase, "If your father will allow, I will give some to him and he can give them to you after your supper?"

[Asako Hirase]

The boy turned at once, full Puppy-Eye offense activated. Hirase, however, was firm.

"Only if you earn the right. Bayushi-san, please explain to Ichiro here what you are trying to teach your pup and perhaps he can be helpful in return for the gift."

[Bayushi Suteichi]

Suteichi also made an offer to Akil. "There is some here for you as well Shinjo-sama. Please."

The boy turned at once, full Puppy-Eye offense activated. Hirase, however, was firm.

"Only if you earn the right. Bayushi-san, please explain to Ichiro here what you are trying to teach your pup and perhaps he can be helpful in return for the gift."

Suteichi knelt down to the boy and called over Sasuke.

"I am teaching Sasuke to be obedient. To respond properly and behave. I reward Sasuke with a treat when he obeys and behaves right. I do correct when he is wrong and no one likes to be corrected right?... Correction is good. Helps one grow to be stronger and smarter. These are qualities that make a good samurai. I see these qualities in you...Always...always respect your father's instruction and you will grow to do greater things. That is the reward of life."

Suteichi stood and smoothed out his kimono. "He's a good lad. Asako-sama."

[Asako Hirase]

"He is." A faint smile graced the older samurai's face. "I have high hopes for him."

Turning to his boy, he said, 'If you can help with that, and Bayushi-san says you may, then you can accept his gift. Properly, mind you."

The boy sighed. "I have to say no?"

"Indeed. How many times?"

With a long put-upon sigh, the boy held up one hand, two fingers raised.

"Good. Don't forget to count it off."

Turning to the Scorpion, little Ichiro said, "I am not..um..worthy of...um...sweets? Not until I can help. Because you, um, had to carry them a long way?"

[Bayushi Suteichi]

Suteichi resisted a chuckle.

"Ah yes I did. But I brought them from a far to share with good people like you and Shinjo-sama, and Asako-sama, your father. Surely this gift is indeed good."

[Asako Hirase]

The boy folded down his longest finger.

"But if you share them with me, you can't, um...share them with ladies? Because, papa says we're here because of them..so...it would be bad to not share?"

[Bayushi Suteichi]

"Well... if I share with you, the ladies will like that I did share with an honorable and respectable boy. You then could also share with some pretty lady too and she'll like you and your father." Suteichi replied.

[Asako Hirase]

The boy folded his second finger down. Then he beamed. "Arigatou, ok then!" Then, in what he clearly thought was a whisper but which carried well enough, he said, "I'm not supposed to ...umm....in-ter-fear? with papa's courting."

Hirase cleared his throat.

"You can share snacks, Ichiro-kun. You just can't ask them about the marriage business."

That perked the boy up again. "Then candy is good!"

[Bayushi Suteichi]

Suteichi gave the candy to Ichiro, gesturing to give to his father. He stood.

"I don't want to take up to much more of your time. It has been an honor to speak with you again Asako-sama. Perhaps we may meet again." He bows to Hirase, then to Ichiro, lastly to Akil.

"Come Sasuke." Suteichi called as he departed with Sasuke following after him.

[Shinjo Akil]

Akil bowed the the Scorpion, keeping a somewhat awkward smile as he watched the man leave. "Oh! You were asking a question before?"
