Dark Edge Village

Nintoku made his way towards the crater. The place was shunned by most locals but for him it was a place of peace, a place of meditation, the closest thing he had to a place of prayer.

He sat in the slopes of the crater, taking a gulp from his last kumis skin and sighing happily. The party had been something to remember despite the Crane meddling and his own defeat at the hands of Butaj. It had been a fitting end to a surprisingly interesting miai.

He laid down, his eyes focusing on the stars above. Tomorrow Matsu Nintoku would die and give place to Moto Nintoku. The thought made him giggle like a little schoolgirl.

Oguro needed to his stretch his legs or maybe she needed to think that Oguro was he restless one. The party had been fun for all of five minutes before Dabo sent her home, but she had to admit she had too much fun to be overly mad at the man. As Mizuki had said he had his job to do and she had hers…

Her scattered thought clouds her judgment as she tries to guide and leap a copse of bushes and brush but misjudges the distance and tumbles from her perch to the ground giving herself scrapes and bruises but nothing much but a bruised ego…

She lies there not far from where Nintoku laughing loudly while Oguro circles around and begins licking her face.

Nintoku noticed the horse through his drunken haze and instantly recognized it. "Oguro?" he blurted as he rubbed his eyes to make sure he wasn't hallucinating.

“This is all your fault,” she says rubbing her forehead as she breate her steed.

“Hey… is that the mighty goat?” she says sitting up and looking toward Nintoku’s voice. “Well that only makes this even more sad Oguro, you’re lucky you’re lucky you are cute.”

"Khulun?" he rose up to a seating position, there was no way this was an hallucination. "Where are you?"

"Over here, Oguro has mistaken me for a treat," she says looking at her noble steed.

He moved towards her stumbling next to her. "I didn't see you at the party," he said the smell of kumis and sake present in his breath. "I missed you."

“So you went, how was it?” she asks looking up. Oguro decides her cheeks are not as sweet as he thought and steps away to chew on grass.

Mmm grass.

"Interesting," he shrugged as he laid in the grass once more. "I finally had my bariku match against Moto Butaj. One of the Asako was cheering him all through the fight," he sighed. "I lost."

"I know," he replied. "Normally I should have won. I'm more skilled and stronger but... he had people cheering for him. Perhaps if you were there I'd have won."

"Speaking of which... why weren't you there?"

“I was there but I left early,” she says honestly.

“It’s not worth worrying about. I hope you enjoyed yourself.”

"Oh, sad," he smirked but didn't think too much about it. "I did."

"So tomorrow is the big day."

“I am sure there will be some surprises tomorrow but if all goes well then we shall be bound by oath and Benten’s will,” she says finally sitting up.

“It’s been an interesting miai, course this is the only miai I have been to.”

"It will be the best day of my life," he laughed and sighed once more. "I can't see why we wouldn't be together. We've already wore each other fans in public. Why would anyone try to snatch us from each other?"

"It would be incurring on Benten's wrath..."
