Appearance
Shosuro Chieri is as shadows on the cave wall. She is clearly slight of build, though whatever curves she may have seem hidden beneath layers of exquisite clothing. Her dark hair maintains a healthy sheen and her hands are fair and untouched by the callouses of labor. Chieri smiles with her eyes and melts hearts with her voice, and those who are lucky enough to have seen her face tell tales of extraordinary beauty.

Doji Fukawa matches what many samurai would envision as a 'Doji Bride': Beautiful, petite, elegant, with a beautiful voice, able to make polite conversation. Ikoma historians would likely mark her as a sweet little nothing. A footnote in a hero's tale about whose hand in marriage exactly the hero won.

While Fukawa is only 14, the recent years have forced many Crane to grow up faster than they have in the past. Now she finds herself to be traded away to the barbarian horde to hopefully broker some kind of leverage against the Lion/Scorpion monster that rests at the heart of the Empire and only grows stronger each day. Honor demands that she pay such a price, and she has always been honorable. The layer of sadness that rests beneath the polite Crane layer adds a depth to her nature. But whether or not she'll ever be more than a pretty singing face remains to be seen.

Apperance:
Samai leans more towards her Rokugani ancestry than the gaijin that is found in her family, though her name betrays her mixed ancestry. Despite that, she does not stand out too much among the Rokugani cousins. Well, she wouldn't, if she wouldn't be wearing a mix of kimono and arttire from the Burning Sands. While she mostly wears the Rokugani garbs, she does have a kaftan or two that she dons on occasion, shocking her poor guests.

What is known:
Samai was born to an unremarkable family line, an was trained among her family's school where she was a decent, if unremarkable student. She did show a love of stories and reading during that time, and that love only grew with her age. Now, after her gempukku she has taken part in minor diplomatic efforts through the journey of the Unicorn when she could. After arriving in Rokugan, her easy and honest nature also allowed her to converse freely with the Lion who kindly acted as stewards of their lands, learning a few things about this new Rokugan.

- Want to know what happened to the Unicorn during their journey? Samai loves to tell stories! Or hear them!

If you've heard of the Golden Carp Yasuki Sake Brewing Family... well, you might still not have heard of Yasuki Tomonaga. But at least that way, when he mentions that he's one of the heirs, you can say "oh, yeah, I've totally heard of Golden Carp sake!" So that's something.

Tomonaga is a cheerful young man, quick with a smile, or a joke, or a bottle of his family's finest. He wants to be happy, and he wants other people to be happy, too. He is also not one to stand on ceremony; when circumstances allow, he generally prefers more casual, informal conversation.

Tomonaga spends some amount of time on his physique, making him athletically fit, which is generally shown by the fine kimonos he wears. However, rather unfairly, his even, handsome features, deep eyes, and thick hair take little upkeep to look good. Indeed, he seems to have been blessed by Benten such that he can roll out of bed, rub his eyes, and tie back his hair, and look great. Some people have all the luck; and did you know he's one of the heirs of the Golden Carp Yasuki Sake Brewing Family? Oh, you've never heard of them. Well, try some sake!

[Kazue]

Appearance:
Kazue is fairly small and has a rather boyish figure, which of course makes sense due to her young age. Her face betrays her age even more-so, with rounded cheeks, a youthful complexion and large inquisitive gray eyes, she was likely significantly younger than the majority of samurai that were present, even perhaps than those who had just completed their gempukku. Her hair was kept relatively simply, black, pulled back with strands hanging down to either side of her face. Kazue's mode of dress is as expected of a member of the Brotherhood of Shinsei, practical and light, sturdy and not overly extravagant. The robe is deep blue in color, not garish but certainly not impressive like kimono would be. On her feet Kazue wears simple wooden sandles, again more practical than anything. She is often carrying a small satchel filled with scrolls, generally texts of the Tao though a few papers to fiddle with to practice origami (a pastime that she may not be great at but enjoys for the peacefulness of it).

Background:
Kazue is from the Four Temples monks, those that are more known to be outwardly social of the monk sects and one of the sects that most commonly interact with samurai as representatives, or as advisers. She personally has had little experience thus far with real-world applications of the courtly dealings that are taught to the Four Temple monks, though the current leadership of former scorpion daisojo Atsushi has done wonders in preparing the monks for the politics and social intricacies of life outside the monastery. Now that the Unicorn have returned, and a miai has been called, Kazue will attend to offer guidance as best she can in her capacity as a representative of the Four Temples sect and gain some first-hand knowledge in social settings.

- So you're at a Miai, are you looking to meet someone but aren't sure how to approach, not even sure why you're here? Monks can be great to talk to, less judgmental than fellow samurai and much less likely to blackmail you with the information later.
- Look, I made an origami frog? Okay...well it was supposed to be a frog,but folding paper is hard. I can make crane though!
-Kazue may be seen on occasion doing drills and practice for jiujutsu, though something seems a little bit off.
-Sure, monks can do some odd things at times, but jumping thirty feet in the air, running across water, all of this seems like parts of old folk tales.

[Ide Amaya]

Barely 16 and barely 4'10", Amaya has large, innocent eyes and straight hair brushed neatly down her back, reaching well past her waist. Having just celebrated her gempukku, her parents are now eager to marry the young girl away. Artless and almost completely without guile, Amaya has a tendency to say or do things that more cultured samurai would see as bold - or even inappropriate - purely for her own pleasure, without considering the implications.

Description:

Background:
Isawa Nonin is from a line of the Isawa known for producing unexceptional but competent shugenja, so when he was selected to train with the Master of Void acolytes his parents (and extended family) were overjoyed. As the only special thing about him that they had ever seen was his ability to attract stray animals.

Seppun Hitako was an average student studying to become a Shugenja. However, the Hidden Guard doesn't need average. It needs phenomenal. So, her sensei, despairing, heard of Fairuz' offer, and sent her to learn from the man; if nothing else, she could share what she learned there with the Hidden Guard, if any was of use to them. She turned out to be very gifted in the way of Fairuz. From an average student, she became a great one. Something about his teachings seemed to resonate with her.

She was fortunate enough to be old enough to survive the recent opening of the Black Scroll, though several of her classmates were not. She was actually in the middle of a spell when it happened - and has been a little odd ever since. Something happened, though careful testing by a concerned Fairuz showed it had nothing to do with the Taint.

A collaboration of her sensei among the Seppun and Fairuz has sent her here, to hopefully gain a Unicorn spouse, and learn even more of this strange 7th clan.

[Moto al-Kalb]

Off of the battle field al-Kalb might bring to mind the beasts that he minds - if said beasts towered over over you and possessed an even worse temper and manners. The subtleties, and some of the not-so-subtleties, of polite society seem lost on the giant Unicorn and he seems unconcerned at their lack. Although he does not actively neglect hygiene a life spent among horses and hounds has left a noticeable air around the young man that could be described as 'musky' at the most polite. His hair is worn long, shaggy, and sometimes matted and it is likely that his lack of facial hair is genetic as opposed to an act of grooming. al-Kalb's idea of formal wear is to make sure his leather and fur vestments have been recently washed and deloused - but he rarely cares about presenting himself formally even at the best of times. His eyes, a coppery brown that brings to mind drying blood, look at the world with an intense hunger during those times that his anger does not cause them to darken with rage.

On the field of war the massive, armor clad form of al-Kalb follows behind his brethren in the Unicorn cavalry, overseeing the war dogs as they move through those who fell to the charge but yet live. His oversized axe, swung easily in one hand, ensuring that those who might resist the teeth of the hounds will never rise again to stand against the Unicorn.

[Ichiro Daisuke]

Daisuke likely doesn't match what one pictures when they think of a Badger Samurai. On the shorter side of average height, and posing a much more slender build then most of his cousins Don't let appearances fool you though, his frame packs much more strength then it looks, his body trained by long hours or archery and other physical activities.

His features are handsome, with pale blue eyes that lead many to believe he has crane blood somewhere in his life. He keeps his black hair cut short, a habit he acquired during his school days, that he has yet to shed, His choice of clothing leans towards the side of practical over fashionable the young man preferring things easier to move and fight in over all others.

What is known: On first look it is obvious that Daisuke didn't school with his clan. The mon for the Daidoji Scout school is visible on his clothing as well as that of his Clan. His age and recent gempukku would also lead most to believe he was away from home during the Badgers recent troubles.

[Iuchi Batul]

About Batul
Slim young, and naturally fair skinned, with long legs, Batul is a beautiful samurai-ko of the Unicorn that still holds rokugani heritage through her blood. Her hair cascades down below her waist, though she holds part of it with flowered kanzashi in braids. Since she has arrived to the Empire she has grown to liking the clothing, so elegant and delicate, and wears beautiful kimono of silk, not only of the color of her clan, but also in other bright colors. Specially she thinks that green looks good on her. She will always add to the look the mon of her family, as well as the mon of the Unicorn.

Her wakizashi's tsuba is in the shape of a horses's head, with two triangles on the top half curving into ear-points, and the bottom half tapering down into a single point. It has a dark red handle. She keeps the wakizashi behind her clipped onto her waist obi.

When she speaks she has a strong accent from the sands, sometimes mispronouncing rokuganí letters.

What is known
Little time has passed since the arrival of the Unicorn to the Empire, so little is known about Batul. Her name alone doesn't invite many to know who she is. Most normally think that her name actually belongs to a man until they meet her. Among the Unicorn, though, she would be recognized for her liking of the new Imperial things, as well as for seeing her playing fortunes and winds whenever she can.

[Otomo Tenzo]

For a young man of such a wealthy background and prominent Imperial heritage, Otomo Tenzo appears quite an odd one in comparison to the other seiyaku that recently came out of dojo, so much so that quite a number of extended Imperial Family members have likely mistaken him for a very eccentric Reju: keeping his head in books and papers, focused on learning new and interesting subjects, and seemingly dabbling in all sorts of studies, fields, and activities outside of the traditional courtly arts, among other such things. Despite lacking some of the more traditional "characteristics" of his greater family, Tenzo managed to find himself in a quite prominent position in the Imperial Archives after passing his gempukku documenting legal decisions, proclamations, marriage records, and other historical events of note. It is in this capacity that he has been sent by his superiors to Dark Edge Village, writing of stories from the Unicorn and writing down the marriages - and, perhaps, arranging one of his own...

Appearance
With her bright clothing, energetic step and slightly sardonic smile, Asako Sayuri always manages to seem pleased to speak with you. She makes some effort to compensate for her small stature by rising on the balls of her feet as she speaks, sometimes looking as though she is bouncing during a quick conversation. Her hair remains tenaciously un-styled; she is fond saying that the Kami graciously lend their talents to its grooming.

[Suki]

With long, well-kept black hair and piercing, gray eyes, Suki is certainly not what comes to mind when one thinks of member of the Brotherhood of Shinsei. Wearing her hair in a simple bun or ponytail, and draped in robes meant for function over faction, it is clear she could be a great beauty if she made any real attempt to do so. But that's not the way of monks; even those that primarily revere Benten. An ascetic, any attempts to convince her to cultivate her appearance are met with polite refusals and bits of wisdom from the Little Teacher.

When possible/safe, Suki walks around barefoot. She can often be found assisting peasants in an array of matters- teaching them to read, building or repairing their homes, tending to the infirm, etc. In the company of samurai though, she's more than capable of carrying herself with an appropriate poise, entertaining her peers with any number of musical instruments, and carrying on spirited discussions about both the Heavens and the Tao. In the rare instances she has her own time, Suki can often be found meditating, practicing her jiujutsu forms, or studying philosophical texts.

While monks of the Temple of Benten are allowed to marry and have children, as a mere monk/heimin, Suki is not taking part in the Unicorn miai. While she certainly hopes to someday find the sort of romantic love represented in her Fortune, she is more interested in helping others to do the same.
